Dear All,
the German Government and the Minister-Presidents of the Federal States have decided on a lockdown, which will start as early as this Monday. Exact details are not yet known to the public, but events will be largely prohibited. In any case, public venues will close for the whole month of November - private venues are closed anyway.
In view of this increasingly worsening situation, c/o now and Tinatin Gurgenidze (representing the Tbilisi Architecture Biennial), with a heavy heart decided to cancel Day 2 and Day 3 of the TAB BERLIN PAVILION.
After a long struggle with ourselves and the circumstances, we concluded that we cannot in good conscience take responsibility for the health of our participants and our guests this coming Friday and Saturday. Furthermore, we do not want to give the impression that we try to push through our events quickly, regardless of the already existing infection situation, which is the reason for the upcoming lockdown.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone involved for their work so far and apologize to them as well as to all interested parties and possible guests for the occurrence of the present situation! We, like so many others, hoped that we could keep as much social freedom alive as possible despite the pandemic. Obviously, we all have to accept another cut at this point.
Part of the concept of the TAB BERLIN PAV from the very beginning was to have days 1, 2 and 3 followed by days 4 and 5 in May, June or July 2021. This may be of little consolation, but what is now being cancelled, we hope to be able to present in a hopefully better situation in the warmer months.
As Tinatin already said in March, we now have something that we all definitely have in common. For now we have nothing left but to wish you all the best on your way through this new lockdown. Let's not forget that many are much less privileged to get through this time, as we might be.
Since a large part of our lives will now shift back into digital space, we would nevertheless like to point out that the keynotes with Tor Lindstrand and Stefan Gruber will take place online this Saturday as planned.
Thank you – hope to see you soon!
